The IPN pipe examination system was a joint project of NDT Design, Sonic Sensors and Inuktun Services Ltd, and was built for Pacific Gas & Electric. The vehicle was designed to operate in 22 inch natural gas pipe and perform non-destructive examinations of the welds. Utilizing three pairs of MiniTracs for the transport platform, the system is capable of remote operation to a distance of over 2500 feet with the supplied tether.
