The Gavia OPERATOR SUITE consists of three software components:
- Gavia Mission Planner
- Gavia Control Center
- Gavia Data pre-viewer
The OPERATOR SUITE runs on a variety of platforms,
and is typically installed on a small laptop computer. Certain
functions require a connection to the Gavia AUV via wireless LAN,
Iridium Satellite Phone, or the optional acoustic link.
Mission Planner
The mission plan is composed using the easy to use Gavia Mission
Planner. This can be done off-line. When connected to the Gavia
AUV the mission plan can be tested on the on-board simulator.
Control Center
Gavia is set up and remotely controlled using the Gavia Control
Center. The Control Center provides the following functions:
- Monitor vehicle status
- Monitor instrument readings
- Monitor payload sensor readings
- Monitor crew status
- Remotely control Gavia
- Submit mission plan
Unless fitted with the optional acoustic link, Control Center
functions including remote control are available only when the
AUV is on the surface.
Data Pre-viewer
The Gavia Data Pre-viewer is used to download and view data gathered
during a mission. With the Pre-viewer the operator can play back
an entire mission and view data from different sensors in synchronization.
